Longtime Houston Texans star defensive tackle J.J. Watt is a free agent after the two sides agreed to part ways last week, and he has his eye on an AFC North contender. Watt is reportedly interested in signing with the Cleveland Browns, per Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com:

Released by the Texans on Friday, Watt is seriously considering the Browns as one of his options because they have a lot of what he wants, sources tell cleveland.com.

The two biggest things? Money and a potential Super Bowl. What’s more, they have a strong supporting cast and a positive environment. Check, check, check, and check.

Portland Trail Blazers guard and Canton, Ohio native CJ McCollum likes the idea of Watt joining the Dawg Pound.

McCollum is surely not alone in wanting to see Watt sign with the Browns.

Cleveland could use more help in the front seven. Myles Garrett is coming off an All-Pro campaign, but Olivier Vernon sustained an Achilles injury in Week 17 and is also bound for free agency. Watt could play opposite Garrett on the edge or move inside, giving the Browns more options up front.

There are other reasons the Browns could appeal to Watt, aside from the money and contender status. Signing with Cleveland would give Watt the opportunity to play against his brothers–T.J. and Derek–twice a year. Some consider the Pittsburgh Steelers as a destination for Watt should he express a desire to actually play with his brothers. But the Steelers have cap issues heading into the offseason.

Heading to Cleveland would also allow Watt to be closer in proximity to his wife, Kealia, who plays for the Chicago Red Stars of the National Women's Soccer League.
