In a couple of weeks, the Cleveland Browns will be on the clock with the first overall pick in this year's draft. This has put the franchise in the prime position to take what could be their next cornerstone player under center for possibly the next decade.

There is a growing expectation that the team will take USC quarterback Sam Darnold with the top overall selection, but that has continued to dwindle down as a certainty. According to Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, things appear to be hedging toward Wyoming's Josh Allen being the selection instead.

This conversation has picked up steam over the last couple of weeks with the Browns taking a grander look at all of the possible choices for the top overall pick. Allen has been touted for his tremendously strong arm andthe preferred size at the position standing at 6-foot-5 and 233 pounds.

However, there are concerns about his lack of true accuracy throwing the ball and underwhelming production last season. There is the argument that he didn't have much talent around him, but the struggles he had throwing the ball accurately remain a huge part of the underlying questions about him.

Meanwhile, Darnold has been viewed the safe selection at the top overall spo,t as he has shown the ability to carry an offense to success with his arm. His arm strength may not be at Allen's level, but he can more than hold his own with deep-ball throws while demonstrating his ability to make all of the necessary throws at the next level in the pocket and on the move. There are some concerns about his throwing mechanics at times and his decision making, but those have been mostly been quieted by his overall package and ability on the field.
