Chris Godwin is going from having Jameis Winston to Tom Brady as his quarterback as he enters his fourth season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With training camp festivities getting underway, Godwin spoke out on what it's like working with Brady.

“As wide receivers, we quickly realized that it’s probably not going to be that challenging, in terms of like how much time we’ll need [to build chemistry], because [Brady’s] such a smart guy and we have so many smart players here that are talented. So we feel like it’s going to be a natural mesh,” Godwin told Buccaneers.com.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, teams around the NFL didn't have much on-field work together ahead of training camp. However, the Buccaneers were among the teams that held private workouts during the offseason. At the same time, with Brady's experience, Godwin discovered that not much time would be needed to build chemistry.

Just a season ago, Godwin had a breakout campaign in his third year with the Buccaneers. The former Nittany Lion corraled a career-best 86 receptions for 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns. Those numbers could have been better if he didn't miss the final two games of the season due to a hamstring injury.

Heading into the 2020 season, Tampa Bay is considered a contender in the NFC in large part due to the team's offensive unit. Even though some teams with new quarterbacks could take time to get adjusted to one another, Godwin believes it's been a seamless transition for the Buccaneers.
