Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver DeSean Jackson suffered a thumb injury that he endured in last week's game against the San Francisco 49ers. Unfortunately for the veteran receiver, he will miss this week's matchup against their division rival Carolina Panthers.

According to Darrin Gantt of Pro Football Talk, Jackson practiced in limited fashion this week, but ultimately could not do enough to get the green light for this week's game.

Another knock in Jackson's direction is the fact that he has performed exponentially worse with quarterback Jameis Winston under center. On the contrary, Jackson has performed much better when Ryan Fitzpatrick is on the field.

The Panthers will no doubt look to rebound after last week's disappointing loss to the Seattle Seahawks. That loss was their third straight after suffering losses in Week 10 to Pittsburgh and Week 11 to Detroit.

Carolina's last victory was back in Week 9 against the Bucs.

Tampa Bay is coming off of their fourth win of the season as they beat the 49ers handily, 27-9. The Bucs will have to wait another week to see if Winston and Jackson can gain some kind of momentum this season and establish some chemistry on the field.

Jackson started out incredibly hot this season, but has fizzled out drastically with Winston as the Bucs' play caller. Winston's preferred targets have always been wide receiver Mike Evans and tight end Cameron Brate. Jackson has 40 receptions, 750 yards, and four receiving touchdowns and will look to hit the 1,000 yard mark for the sixth time in his career.
