The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have decided to end the “Fitzmagic” era of football and have benched Ryan Fitzpatrick to place Jameis Winston back in the starting lineup under center. Some fans will be depressed after the hot start that Fitzpatrick had, but others know Winston is the future of the franchise.

In other quarterback news, the Buccaneers recently worked out former Denver Broncos quarterback Paxton Lynch. According to a report from Pewter Report, Lynch was one of the few quarterbacks who worked out for the Buccaneers.

Lynch was drafted by the Broncos with the No. 26 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He was expected to be the quarterback of the future for them, but was quickly cut after just two years with the team.

Why Tampa Bay would be working out other quarterbacks is the big question. Could they be considering trying to trade Fitzpatrick? Winston could stick as the starter with Lynch being his backup if they needed someone to step in.

In the two seasons he played in Denver, Lynch completed 61.7 percent of his passes for 792 yards, four touchdowns, and four interceptions. He put up those numbers in five games.

At 6-foot-7 and 245 pounds, Lynch has the body to be a good quarterback. Perhaps a change of scenery is all he needs to get himself back on track. Sitting and learning behind Winston in Tampa Bay might be the best move for his career at this point in time.

Tampa Bay may be working out Lynch just to do due diligence, but this is something to keep an eye on moving forward.
