Before Tom Brady announced his unretirement, he apparently sent a series of text messages to Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans hinting of his return.

For those not familiar with the situation, Evans–albeit just for a little over a month–had the honor of catching Brady's final touchdown pass after the legendary QB made his retirement official in the offseason.

In his text messages to Evans, however, Brady told the wideout that there are “more touchdowns in our future.”

The Buccaneers WR made the revelation in an interview with Ari Alexander of KPRC2, adding that he though the 44-year-old was trolling him.

“I'm just thinking that he's trolling me. … So a few hours later, it's announced that he's coming back and that was that,” Evans shared.

“… I didn't think he was really coming back. I thought he was just playing around.”

Imagine Mike Evans' surprise when Tom Brady actually returned. Little did the Buccaneers vet know that he had inside info on what was going to go down.

To be fair to Evans, the retirement of the Buccaneers QB was quite short and many expected him to really take some time off to spend time with his family and think about his future. While there was always the possibility of him returning, no one saw it coming that early.

The Buccaneers are certainly happy Brady is back, though. As for Evans, at least he'll get to catch more passes from the living NFL legend.
