Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans had every reason to be excited when Tom Brady decided to sign a two-year, $50 million deal to come to Florida. After all, Brady is a six-time Super Bowl champion and a legend in the sport.

But still, Brady's pedigree did not save him from the wrath of the Tamp Bay media.

The Tampa Bay Times wrote an article entitled “Brady is so old…” in which they dove into his “seniority” over a number of Florida figureheads and encouraged readers to submit their own blurbs. Brady had some fun with the article, posting it to his Instagram story.

Of course, this article is a reminder of Brady as an “ageless wonder,” so to speak.

Brady will be 43 in August, but he has repeatedly insisted he wants to keep playing at least until the age of 45, which is when his contract will be up with the Buccaneers. In a game as physical as football, it seems impossible anyone could have this kind of longevity.

Yet, Brady has kept himself in tremendous condition throughout the course of his career, leading to this moment with the Buccaneers. He has suffered just one serious injury (a torn ACL during the 2008 regular season opener) while starting all 16 games in 11 of the last 12 seasons. He probably would have made that 12-for-12 if not for a controversial suspension to begin the 2016 season stemming from the “Deflategate” saga.

Brady is coming off a rather underwhelming season in 2019, though he played behind an injury-riddled offensive line and did not have much in the way of reliable receiving options. He will surely be motivated to lead a Buccaneers offense full of weapons.

Though he might be laughing now, Brady is just the type to use the age jokes as fuel to power the Buccaneers to their first Super Bowl since 2002.
