The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are reportedly leaning towards laying another contract on the table for veteran quarterback Tom Brady in the weeks to come. The latest development came after their successful title run in the 2020 NFL Playoffs, capped by an overwhelming victory against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV to notch their second title in franchise history.

Via Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk:

“Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on the air Monday that the two sides have made “good momentum” toward an agreement that would extend Brady’s stay with the Buccaneers. Doing so would put him on track to continue playing beyond his 45th birthday in August 2022.”

Brady previously signed a two-year, $50 million contract upon arriving in Tampa Bay during last year's offseason. The 14-time Pro Bowler proved that he wasn't just a big name and that he still has a lot of football left to be played in the league by coming out with impressive performances all throughout the season.

The new contract will most likely stretch until 2022 when Brady would be 45 years old by then. The terms of the deal will also be tweaked in order to decrease Brady's $28.375 million cap hit for 2021. Apart from their starting quarterback, the Buccaneers will also have to retain a handful of their key players who are set to become free agents in the coming offseason.

The list includes receiver Chris Godwin, tight end Rob Gronkowski, defensive end Ndamukong Suh along with linebackers Shaq Barrett and Lavonte David. After a successful debut season in Tampa Bay, both Tom Brady and the team are looking to renew their partnership in hopes of attaining greater success moving forward.
