During the Christmas day showdown between the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers, there was a play that featured Giannis Antetokounmpo being scratched in his eye. The play resulted in the reigning MVP being visibly upset with one of the referees, Tony Brothers.

After the game, Antetokounmpo told Malika Andrews of ESPN  that his eye is “okay” but he had “some difficulty” with seeing after it was hit. It's worth noting that Andrews described the injured eye of The Greek Freak as being “a bit red.”

It seems unlikely that Antetokounmpo will be impacted much by the scratched eye going forward. He didn't sound too concerned at all by it immediately after the game. There was probably just more frustration with the fact that he didn't receive a foul call that should have been made during the play when it occurred.

The 2019-20 season has featured another highly impressive campaign from Antetokounmpo, and he very well could find himself winning a second consecutive MVP award. The Bucks superstar is currently averaging 30.5 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 5.7 assists while leading the Bucks to an Eastern Conference-best 27-5 record.

While the Bucks came up short against the Sixers, it's important to remember that it's just a regular-season meeting and an NBA regular season is full of ups and downs for all teams. Milwaukee will just need to head back to the drawing board and be prepared to execute before their next showdown with Philadelphia in February.

The Bucks have a full-day off before they are back on the hardwood for game action. On Friday, they are scheduled for a game with the Atlanta Hawks at Phillips Arena.
