The Milwaukee Bucks have signed former Boston Celtics forward James Young to a training camp contract, the team announced Wednesday.

The 22-year-old was initially drafted 17th overall by the Celtics, but only played 89 games during his first three seasons with the team, averaging 2.3 points and 1.1 rebounds per game.

Despite his short stint on the NBA hardwood, Young flourished playing for the team's G League affiliate Maine Red Claws, posting 18.7 points, 5.4. rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while drilling 40.3 percent of his shots from beyond the arc from 2014-16.

A University of Kentucky product, Young averaged 14.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in his lone season playing under John Calipari.

Young would likely fit as a third forward behind Mirza Teletovic, but will need his shooting stroke from deep as his calling card to secure a roster spot with two sure-shot marksmen in Tony Snell and Khris Middleton on the wing.

His NBA experience is limited, but if the potential is there, the Bucks can surely benefit from a cheap contract and some re-enforcements after the tough injuries has seen with starters Middleton and Jabari Parker through last season.
