Three-time Sixth Man of the Year awardee Jamal Crawford is still roaming freely on the free agent market.

According to Brandon ‘Scoop B' Robinson of Heavy.com, a source reportedly told him that a couple of top-tier Eastern Conference contenders were looking into bringing on the 20-year veteran. However, talks have apparently stalled in the meantime.

A league source shared with me earlier last week that both the Toronto Raptors and the Milwaukee Bucks were inquiring about the three-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award recipient.

Later this weekend I learned that those talks have since stalled.

Fans and fellow NBA players alike are still baffled as to why Crawford remains without a team this season.

Crawford is 39 years old and that could be a reason why teams are passing on him. Likewise, Crawford could be seen as a liability on the defensive end given that he wasn't a great defender to begin with in his heyday, what more now that he is on the tail end of his career.

Still, those supporting the 6-foot-5 shooting believe he can still provide a great scoring spark off the bench of any team. He is, in fact, a walking bucket.

Playing for rebuilding Phoenix Suns squad last season, Crawford wasn't able to maximize his impact. He averaged 7.9 points in 18.9 minutes per game – both the lowest since his sophomore campaign.

Perhaps a team like the Bucks or the Raptors makes sense given that he doesn't have to worry about carrying a heavy load on offense. Likewise, both are already top-notch defensive teams, so they will likely be able to cover his deficiencies on that end of the court. Moreover, his steady veteran presence on the bench and in the locker room will always be a valuable asset to have.

Time will only tell whether one of the Bucks, Raptors, or other title contenders will seriously consider signing the 39-year old professional scorer.
