Jim Boylen is not off to a very auspicious start as head coach of the Chicago Bulls.

We all know about the players-only meeting the Bulls staged as sort of a mutiny against Boylen, but how about some actual numbers to determine how he is faring thus far?

Boylen has coached the Bulls for seven games, and in those seven games, Chicago is tied for the lowest net rating in the history of the league:

Now let's get something straight here: the Bulls are not trying to win games this year. I know “tanking” is a bad word, but let's be real: that is what Chicago is doing this season, and who could blame them?

This team is not even close to being ready to contend, so it might as well do the best it can to get good draft position and add more to its stable of young talent.

The Bulls actually have some nice young pieces, too. Lauri Markkanen and Wendell Carter Jr. represent a very impressive duo up front, and guards Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and Ryan Arcidiacono are solid young guards.

But, obviously, Chicago needs more. Much more.

The Bulls currently own a record of 7-24 and have gone 2-5 since Boylen took over as head coach, posting victories over the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs. The latter win actually came on the road, and Chicago rallied from 21 points to grab the victory.

The Bulls will host a suddenly red-hot Brooklyn Nets team on Wednesday night.
