Chicago Bulls first-round draft pick Coby White is not only joining the franchise with which Michael Jordan spent the bulk of his NBA career, but he also played collegiate basketball at Jordan's alma mater, the University of North Carolina.

As for whether or not White has ever spoken to Jordan? He said it happened once:

“I was kind of scared to have a conversation with him,” said White, according to K.C. Johnson of The Chicago Tribune.

Of course, just about any young player going into the NBA is going to be a bit apprehensive and intimidated to have a discussion with the greatest of all time, so White is probably preaching to the choir.

White, whom the Bulls selected with the seventh overall pick in the NBA Draft last Thursday, is coming off of a freshman campaign with the Tar Heels in which he played 35 games and averaged 16.1 points, 4.1 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals over 28.5 minutes per game while shooting 42.3 percent from the floor, 35.3 percent from three-point range and 80 percent from the free-throw line.

The 19-year-old scored over 30 points twice during his lone season at North Carolina, with his first such outing coming during a loss to Texas back on November 22 when he poured in 33 points while making 10 of his 17 field-goal attempts and seven of his 10 long-distance tries. His second performance came during a win over Syracuse on February 26, when he racked up 34 points while going 9-of-14 from the field, 6-of-11 from downtown and 10-of-10 from the charity stripe.

Chicago won just 22 games this past season.
