Chicago Bulls point guard Kris Dunn says ex-head coach Fred Hoiberg helped him get his swagger back last season on the basketball court.

The Bulls fired Hoiberg on Monday after signing him to a five-year, $25 million deal back in 2015. Chicago acquired Dunn, Zach LaVine and the draft rights to Lauri Markkanen from the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Jimmy Butler trade on draft night in 2017.

No Bulls player will have anything bad to say about Fred Hoiberg. He just wasn’t built to coach an NBA team with grown men. Hoiberg is a really nice guy who cares about his players. However, sometimes he was too nice and players often felt they could get away with things on the court because they knew Hoiberg wasn't going to yell at them.

In his first season with the franchise last year, Kris Dunn averaged 13.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game while shooting 42.9 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from beyond the arc. Dunn was at the Bulls’ practice facility all summer working on his game, but the injury bug has bitten him so far this season. The 24-year-old has only played in one game due to a knee injury.

Jim Boylen, who is going to coach the Bulls for the rest of the season, is a polar opposite of Hoiberg. He's demonstrative and will definitely get in a players' face if he sees something he doesn't like. Maybe that type of coaching method will light a fire under the Bulls.
