Zach LaVine's season is most likely over. The Chicago Bulls All-Star will not suit up for Game 5 against the Milwaukee Bucks, who lead the series 3-1 with the chance to close it out on their home floor. The star shooting guard will likely see his first appearance in the NBA playoffs end quickly.

According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, LaVine will likely need some kind of surgery on his knee. Although it won't hamper him long-term, the injury was worse than the Bulls star made it out to be.

According to a source close to the situation, however, LaVine’s knee was “more like 50% and that’s on a good day.’’

The source also said the maintenance of the knee the past few months was an all-day ordeal, and that there would have been a good number of All-Star-type players that would have shut it down for the season with all LaVine had to deal with.

LaVine averaged 24.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game while shooting 47.6 percent from the field for the Bulls this season. His scoring was hugely important for Chicago in the regular season and the playoffs. LaVine is sadly no stranger to knee injuries. He tore his left ACL in 2017 before being traded to the Bulls. Since rehabilitating from that injury, he became one of the best stars in the NBA.

The Zach LaVine injury is a brutal development for the Bulls, but they still have a high-quality core to build around.
