New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton was blasted by a young heckler at a football camp over the weekend. The incident led to an exchange between the former NFL MVP and the camper who wanted to get in Newton's head by repeatedly teasing him that he's about to be poor upon entering free agency.

The 31-year-old gunslinger showed great restraint as he managed to control himself and didn't completely vent his ire on the heckler. Said camper, Jseth Owens, eventually took to Twitter to send an apology to Newton and show remorse for his actions:

It can't be denied that Newton is definitely heading to an uncertain situation in the offseason after completing his one-year rental with the Patriots. However, it doesn't give the teenager any right to mock him, considering that Newton has already been a Heisman Trophy winner, No. 1 NFL Draft pick, Pro Bowler, and an NFL MVP in his professional career. On the flip side, the camper is still out there trying to make a name for himself at the grassroots level.

Perhaps the incident could serve as motivation for Newton. He has seen the number of people who are trying to bring him down while remaining doubtful of his capabilities, especially during these low times in his career. He could definitely use the experience as fuel to get him going and perform better on the field next season.

As much as it can motivate Cam Newton, the experience will definitely teach Jseth Owens a humbling lesson that could turn out to be invaluable in the long run as his football career progresses.
