The Arizona Cardinals keep adding pieces to the puzzle in what has been a busy offseason to date. James Conner is the latest to ink a deal with Arizona, agreeing to a one-year deal with the Cardinals.

After losing Kenyan Drake in free agency to the Las Vegas Raiders, the Cardinals were in the market for an upgrade at the running back position. Some teams had glided away from Conner after his surgery this offseason to patch up a turf toe injury. The Cardinals must've been pleased with the results of his physical as Conner will now be paired with Chase Edmonds in the Arizona backfield.

Conner's career has been a well-documented one, after the star running back in college at Pittsburgh was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma and not only fully recovered, but went on to be drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In four seasons with Pittsburgh, Conner gobbled up 2,302 yards and 22 touchdowns. His best year came in 2018, when he rushed for 973 yards and 12 touchdowns in just 13 games played.

The move continues an aggressive approach to the offseason so far for Arizona. They have already added veterans JJ Watt and A.J. Green and now, James Conner as well. The signings indicate the Cardinals are ready to push some chips towards the middle of the table in an effort to win now.

The NFC West figures to be loaded once again in 2021. The Los Angeles Rams added Matt Stafford, Seattle returns most of their core from a playoff squad in 2020 and San Francisco will look to stay healthy and get back to their winning ways from 2019. Don't forget about the Cardinals though, who are slowly laying out an intriguing blueprint.
