Arizona Cardinals defensive end JJ Watt spent the first 10 seasons of his career with the Houston Texans, and while it was his choice to leave the team earlier in the year, he still has nothing but love for the city and the franchise.

Watt said so as much after the Cardinals' meeting with the Texans on Sunday—one that saw his new squad obliterate his former team, 31-5 to remain undefeated.

On Twitter, Watt shared his appreciation for the Texans and noted how the franchise will always have a special place in his heart.

JJ Watt had a successful decade with the Texans, winning three NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards on top of five Pro Bowl selections. He was also a two-time sacks leader while leading the Houston defense that terrorized several opponents.

Unfortunately, as mentioned, he requested to be released last February and the Texans granted it. He eventually signed a two-year, $31 million deal with the Cardinals less than a month after being released.

For what it's worth, Watt recently shared that he knew the Texans would be bad heading to the 2021 season, and he admitted it's one of the reasons why he requested to be released from the team.

That decision is paying off now, though, as the Cardinals lead the NFC West and the whole NFL with an incredible 7-0 record.
