Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt make up a star-studded corner infield duo for the St. Louis Cardinals. Arenado is one of the best third baseman in MLB, while the same can be attributed to Goldschmidt over at first base.

Arenado had some extremely high praise for Goldschmidt following his clutch walk-off grand slam against the Toronto Blue Jays:

“Paul Goldschmidt is one of the best players I've ever seen,” Arenado declared. “He's unbelievable. The way he goes about his business. Humble, unbelievable teammate, great father, everything he does is right.”

Goldschmidt was 0-for-4 heading into extra innings in the Blue Jays-Cardinals game on Monday night. So when he stepped to the plate with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th, he knew he needed to leave his prior at-bats in the rearview mirror:

“Five outs in four at-bats—that’s not what you want to do,” Goldschmidt said. He continued by discussing his mindset of leaving prior at-bats in the past, ““You don’t really have any other choice. I try to do it every day. Today was an extreme example of that.”

The result spoke for itself:

Paul Goldschmidt's flair for the dramatic sent Cardinals fans home happy. He certainly turned his night around with the walk-off grand slam.

Nolan Arenado enjoyed an impressive ball game at the dish as well, as he went 3-for-4 in the win.

The Cardinals' superstar duo will aim to keep playing well and leading St. Louis moving forward. They currently trail the Brewers by just two games in the NL Central.
