Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald will retire as one of the best ever when he decides to hang it up, but there is still more he wants to accomplish in the league. Right now Fitzgerald sits with the third-most receptions in NFL history and all signs point towards him moving up to the second spot early this upcoming season.

Fitzgerald has caught 1,303 passes so far in his NFL career, which is 22 behind Tony Gonzalez who sits in second on the all-time list. Fitzgerald still has a ways to go catch Jerry Rice who sits in first place with 1,549 career catches.

Catching Rice is probably out of the question unless he plans on playing well into his 40's but moving into second place is an accomplishment in itself.

Fitzgerald is excited about this upcoming season, and one of the biggest reasons is the new quarterback, Kyler Murray. Everyone is learning a new system under head coach Kliff Kingsbury, and Fitzgerald has been blown away by how well Murray has learned the offense.

“He knows the system better than we do,” Fitzgerald said, per Mike Jurecki of Arizona's official site. “He can get us into any play at any time, and then he has the ultimate weapon in the exit button.”

All signs point towards Murray being the starting quarterback this season which means he is going to be a big part of Fitzgerald getting past Gonzalez on the all-time list.

Fitzgerald is also going to be a great mentor this season for some of the young receivers the team has brought in.
