Carmelo Anthony may have already played his final game for the New York Knicks. With his future with the team still uncertain, it has been announced that he will sit out their final match of this season on Wednesday when they host the Philadelphia 76ers inside Madison Square Garden.

Jeff Hornacek confirmed the development as the 10-time All-Star is suffering from a sore left knee, which also kept him sidelined during their last two outings. The Knicks head coach did not comment on whether he thinks Anthony will still be with the team next season, but said, via Newsday's Al Iannazzone, that he will still prepare as if he's going to stay put.

“I think it’s all his choice still, isn’t it, with his contract? I think every year until guys are gone, coaches, we all assume we have the same team. That’s how you prepare. When something changes you deal with it.”

He also admitted that it's going to be a very busy summer for their top brass as important decisions are going to be made that will dictate the direction in which the team is headed.

“I’m sure a lot of things will be discussed. That’s something I can’t predict what’s going to happen in that meeting, or what we talk about. Obviously we’ll talk about the season, going forward, what’s going to happen. It’ll be about that.”

Despite all the distractions that surrounded him, Anthony has remained professional and continued to play his natural game. He is averaging 22.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists per game, and did not show any signs inside the court that all the trade chatter and speculations have gotten the best of him.

Mindaugas Kuzminskas and Justin Holiday are expected to see an uptick in their minutes as they try to fill in the void left by their franchise player.
