The Boston Celtics have been counted out of this season since the opening day of their 2017-18 campaign. When Gordon Hayward went down with a season-ending injury, everyone said that they didn't have a chance to compete in the Eastern Conference. When Kyrie Irving was ruled out for the rest of the season, everyone said the same thing, but now that the Eastern Conference Finals are here, the Boston Celtics are still in.

The one thing people seem to be forgetting is that Brad Stevens is the coach, and he always seems to get the best out of his players.  One thing that Al Horford is impressed with is just how well Stevens helps with the young guys.

“I think a lot of our guys have been thrown into the fire. I think it’s been designed that way so guys can just develop and learn as they go,” Horford said via NBC Sports. “But I think that one of the things that helps them is the way that coach helps them prepare and the way that he teaches them the game.”

Another guy who agrees with Horford is LeBron James, who is impressed with what Stevens is able to get out of his team.

“I think they are one of the most well-coached teams in our league,” James said. “No matter who has played for them, he can put guys in position to succeed and get the most out of whoever has been in their lineup over the past few years. It’s not just this year.”

The way Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have stepped in the NBA playoffs has been impressive. They were both high draft picks, and a lot is expected of them, but the poise they have shown in this playoffs is still a good representation of what Stevens has been able to do with both of them.
