After missing the last 13 games due to a left hand injury, Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward is close to a return. The 10-year pro is listed as questionable on the team's injury report for the first time since he suffered the injury on Nov. 9 against the San Antonio Spurs.

In the eight Hayward played before the injury, the 6-foot-8 wing was averaging 18.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists while shooting an efficient 55.5 percent from the field and 43.3 percent from deep.

Hayward was arguably Boston's best player to start the season, which made his injury even more untimely. His strong play was a good sign for a player that missed pretty much all of the 2017-18 season with injury and struggled the following year primarily coming off the bench for the team.

The Celtics got off to an impressive 7-1 start to the season with Hayward in the lineup. They have gone 9-4 since Hayward was sidelined.

With there being a possibility of Hayward returning from injury in the team's next game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday, the Celtics would be one step closer to being at full strength.

Also listed on the Celtics' injury report are second-year big man Robert Williams (left hip soreness) and rookie Romeo Langford, who has been struggling with a right ankle sprain.

Kemba Walker (21.8), Jayson Tatum (21.2), and Jaylen Brown (20.0) are all averaging over 20 points per game, making the Celtics the only team in the NBA with three players to reach that mark. A strong performance in his next game or two would boost Hayward past the 20-point mark as well.
