For the upcoming 2019-20 season, Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens wants his team to “play with great effort and togetherness.”

Stevens will be entering his seventh year as Celtics head coach. This time around, however, he seems to have identified the real key to success in the NBA. He'll now place a premium on the team's overall effort and chemistry, noting that all the technical details will take care of itself.

“My care is that we play with great effort and togetherness. … All the technical basketball plays and system and all that stuff, that stuff will figure itself out,” Stevens said, per Jay King of The Athletic.

“I feel like we’re in a good foundation there. But we have to play like a Boston team should.”

Chemistry was one of the main problems of the Celtics last year. In fact, their off-court issues were well publicized last year, with players such as Kyrie Irving and Marcus Morris openly criticizing their teammates.

The team eventually failed to live up to expectations, suffering a second-round playoffs exit at the hands of the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks.

Boston lost Irving and Al Horford this summer, but they were able to replace them with Kemba Walker and Enes Kanter. It's also worth noting that Walker was able to spend some time on the floor with Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown, and Jayson Tatum while donning the Team USA jersey.

While USA Basketball's FIBA World Cup tourney ended up in disappointment, the Celtics' four core players building chemistry early should bode well for the Boston's aspirations in the 2019-20 season.
