Boston Celtics general manager and President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge admitted that he wanted to make some trade moves at the February trade deadline.

While Ainge did not drop specific details, he revealed that the players he desired were still wanted by the other team. As such, they would want a ‘home run' of a trade deal for the transaction to push through.

“There were some trades that I would have liked to have done,” he said, per Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald. “But they were good players and the teams that would be giving them up didn’t want to give them up, so they needed to get a home run of a trade in order to do it. And that’s typically what happens when you’re trying to get players that the other team still wants.”

Ainge and the Celtics reportedly wanted to add a big man to the fold. 6-foot-8 Robert Williams, their 27th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, has been out for most of the season due to a hip injury. He made his return to the roster and in his first two games back, the 22-year-old averaged 8.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks across 12 minutes of action.

“We feel like we have a really fresh guy who knows our system and is part of our future, and we’re excited about Rob’s future. When Brad (Stevens) and I talked at the very beginning of the season, we thought that the most important development this year of all of our players was the development of Rob, just because of how important he could be.”

With less than 25 games remaining, will the current Celtics roster be enough to snag that elusive Larry O'Brien trophy?
