Charlotte Hornets point guard Terry Rozier was part of the 2018-19 Boston Celtics team which underachieved.

Before the 2018-19 season started, most pundits picked the Celtics to win the East. Boston, however, never lived up to expectations and lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the playoffs in five games.

There was a lot of roster turnover in Boston this past summer. Kyrie Irving signed with the Brooklyn Nets, Al Horford joined the Philadelphia 76ers and the Celtics and Hornets agreed to a sign-and-trade deal which sent Rozier to Charlotte and Kemba Walker to Boston. The Celtics also signed Enes Kanter in free agency.

From afar, Terry Rozier can see why the Celtics are playing well this season:

“Last year obviously we had bumps in the road that we couldn’t overcome, Rozier said, via the Boston Herald. “This year I think they’ve got a lot of guys that’s just leading the way and putting everything aside and just having fun for the most part, and I think it’s working for them.”

One could easily make the argument that the Celtics had more talent last season.

“Yeah, you could say that. But talent, it can’t always get you to where you want to go. You’ve got to have the guys that want to be good, want to play hard, want to learn — stuff like that. Obviously you can have all the talent in the world; if you don’t put it together and everybody don’t buy in, it’s not going to work out. And I think that’s what we got caught up in last year. But this year I’m happy for them. It’s like they pulled it back together.”

The Celtics are 23-8 on the season and appear on their way to redeeming themselves after last season’s dysfunctional campaign.

Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are playing like All-Stars and there isn't any turmoil in the locker room like last season.
