Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum is expected to play tonight against the Brooklyn Nets, but he will be under a minutes restriction due to illness, according to head coach Brad Stevens.

Tatum has played the last two games for the Celtics after recovering from a back injury he suffered against the Charlotte Hornets last Sunday. Stevens did not indicate how many minutes will play, but with Al Horford and Kyrie Irving already out due to load management, expect Boston to take extra precautionary measures to ensure that Tatum will be well-rested and ready to go for the remainder of the season and the playoffs.

The Celtics are seated comfortably in the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference, and will most likely enter the postseason in the same spot. Since it is possible for them to not have home-court advantage throughout their playoff run, the only way for Boston to have a fighting chance is to make sure that their star players are 100 percent ready. Tatum is one of the players they will clearly rely on. The sophomore forward led the team to the Eastern Conference Finals last season, and although that responsibility is no longer in his shoulders alone, he'll still play a key role for the team's championship aspirations.

Tatum is averaging 15.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game this season.
