While losing one of its top assistants comes with a bit of sting for the Boston Celtics, Jayson Tatum couldn't be any happier for Will Hardy.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that the Jazz have decided to hire Hardy and are now finalizing a contract that will make him their head coach in the next five years.

Upon seeing the news, Tatum quickly took to Twitter to share his reaction, expressing how ecstatic he is for the 34-year-old. Hardy has certainly worked his way up to the coaching ranks, starting as a video coordinator for the San Antonio Spurs in 2013 to becoming an assistant coach under Gregg Popovich before coming to the Celtics and joining Ime Udoka's staff in 2021.

“Couldn’t be happier for my guy! Extremely deserving,” Tatum wrote.

Will Hardy's winning experience being with the Spurs and Celtics will certainly be beneficial for a Jazz team that is expected to undergo major changes this offseason. Utah needs a fresh start after years of playoff disappointment, and Hardy could be the right man for the job with his ability to develop players and emphasis on culture.

The former Celtics assistant will be replacing Quin Snyder, who left the job this offseason amid uncertainties about the future of the franchise.

Fortunately for Jayson Tatum and Boston, they won't be meeting Hardy a lot since they are now in different conferences.
