The NBA season is still up in the air due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, that doesn't mean teams are not preparing for the possible resumption of the season. Prior to the suspension of the season, the Boston Celtics were among the top teams in the Eastern Conference. All-Stars Kemba Walker and Jayson Tatum were playing magnificent seasons, leading the Celtics to the 3rd best record in the East.
There are some holes on Boston's roster that prevent them from entering most people's list of legitimate title contenders, the most glaring being their lack of size. Kemba Walker, however, believes that their speed is something they have utilized as one of their primary keys to success, per Justin Quinn of USA Today.
Boston's big man rotation consists of Daniel Theis, Enes Kanter, and Robert Williams. With their lack of big man depth, they mostly utilize their wings, such as Gordon Hayward, to play the forward spots.
Obviously, they might have trouble with some of the bigger teams in the leagues, such as the Los Angeles Lakers or the Denver Nuggets. However, as mentioned by Walker, their speed and scrappiness on defense makes up for their lack in size. Likewise, their abundance in wings would also allow them to switch more on defense.
The Celtics are definitely a dark horse candidate to lift this year's Larry O'Brien trophy, granted that, of course, the season continues.
