Marcus Smart is one happy man on Monday after he and the Boston Celtics agreed to a four-year extension worth $77 million.

After the announcement of the agreement, Smart took to social media to celebrate his new deal that will keep him in Boston with the Celtics for a long time. On Twitter, he posted shamrock emojis indicating the number of years he has already spent with the team plus the four more years he got now.

Meanwhile over Instagram, Marcus Smart shared a video of his highlights from his first seven years with the Celtics. He captioned it with “Let's go 4 more…” to express his excitement with the new deal.

Smart joined the Celtics in 2014 when he was selected sixth overall by the franchise in the year's rookie draft. He has since established himself as the heart and soul of the team, bringing in some much-needed energy and hustle in every game.

While his numbers really don't pop out, it's worth noting that he recorded his best season with the team last season stat-wise. Smart put up career highs of 13.1 points and 5.7 assists, all while recording 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per outing.

While some might think that the Celtics overpaid to keep Smart, there is no doubt that the team needs him as they try to return to title contention. He is one of their leaders, and his presence is necessary to keep the Beantown team focused on their goals.
