The enshrinement of the 2021 Basketball Hall of Fame class might be a little awkward for former Boston Celtics teammates Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen.

Both Garnett and Allen will be in the event as presenters, with the former coming for Pierce and the latter for Chris Bosh. The 2021 Hall of Fame enshrinement will be held in September, and that means a reunion for the ex-Celtics Big 3.

Every basketball fan knows the issue between Ray Allen and his former teammates. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett have an ongoing beef with Allen, which started when the retired sharpshooter chose to join the Miami Heat in 2012.

The Heat were the Celtics' biggest rivals in the East at the time, so the move didn't sit well with the two. Not to mention that Allen reportedly didn't even talk with his former teammates about leaving the Celtics before bolting to the Heat, per Pierce.

“This is my whole deal with Ray and the reason I had a problem with him. One, he went to our rival,” the former Celtics star said of Allen in a previous interview. “LeBron James was a rival of the Celtics, regardless if he was in Cleveland or Miami … Two, I was calling him when [the Celtics] were in the middle of contract negotiations before he left. He’s not answering anybody’s calls and I’m hearing he’s going to Miami. He’s not returning my call. I just feel like as a certain respect as a teammate, as a brother, we can have this conversation.

“If you’re not wanting to play with us no more, at least let us know … I felt that was a slap in the face or disrespect from a brother. So that was my whole beef with him, and other guys felt the same way. Since then, me and him have talked … I don’t have no problem with Ray today.”

Garnett, for his part, notably snubbed Allen in his Hall of Fame speech during his enshrinement last May. He even gave a shoutout to Brook Lopez and Joe Johnson, but he ignored one of the key players that helped him win a championship with the Celtics.

The three being in the Hall of Fame enshrinement will certainly be a key story to watch out for as the occasion nears. But hey, maybe they'll be able to patch things up there!
