The Los Angeles Chargers put forth an impressive effort on both sides of the ball in a 28-14 Monday Night Football victory over the previously undefeated Las Vegas Raiders. Derek Carr and the Raiders' offense had been dominant coming into this game, but the Chargers totally shut them down in the first half and did enough in the second half to hold off a comeback attempt.

After the game, Chargers star pass rusher Joey Bosa outlined the key to shutting down Carr, delivering a savage jab to the quarterback after beating him up pretty good for much of the night. Via The Athletic's Daniel Popper:

“We knew once we hit him a few times, he really gets shook,” Carr said. “And you saw on (Christian Covington's) sack, he was pretty much curling into a ball before we even got back there. Great dude, great player. … but we know once you get pressure on him, he kind of shuts down.”

Bosa did compliment Carr in the middle of this diss, but this is still pretty ruthless. The Chargers knocked Carr around, sacking him four times and hitting him seven times. Derwin James capped off the strong defensive performance with an interception in the fourth quarter to seal the game.

Carr wound up with okay numbers, but they were just pedestrian compared to the big stats he put up through three weeks. The Raiders quarterback has been a bit of a roller-coaster ride in his career, so Las Vegas is hoping this is just a blip instead of the start of a slump.

Meanwhile, the Chargers are looking really dangerous after moving to 3-1. They just beat two strong division rivals, and their only loss this season was a close one to a strong Dallas Cowboys team. Justin Herbert and Co. look like a real threat in the AFC in 2021.
