The Los Angeles Chargers have lost two games in a row, and much of that is due to their struggling running game.

Oddly enough, the Chargers' ground game worsened once Melvin Gordon returned from his holdout in Week 5, as Los Angeles has tried to make Gordon the No. 1 running back, which has resulted in Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson becoming relative afterthoughts.

The returns have not been good, as the Bolts totaled 35 rushing yards in their loss against the Denver Broncos two weeks ago and just 32 yards in their defeat at the hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers this past Sunday.

Gordon's numbers thus far? Twenty carries for 49 yards.

But Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn is insisting that its recent struggles don't have anything to do with Gordon.

“I don’t think it has anything to do with Melvin Gordon,” Lynn said, according to Dan Woike The Los Angeles Times. “We’ve got to open up more running lanes. … Everybody’s got to be accountable for the man in, and those runners they really don’t have a chance. So, we’ve got to do a better job up front.”

Of course, up front has been a big issue for LA all season, as it has been missing left tackle Russell Okung as a result of a pulmonary embolism, and center Mike Pouncey is now sidelined due to a neck injury.

The good news is that Okung could be back as soon as this Sunday.

The bad news is that the Chargers are 2-4 and are facing an uphill climb to make the playoffs in the rugged AFC.
