The Los Angeles Chargers have re-signed defensive lineman Brandon Mebane, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Mebane is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played 12 games and finished with 40 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.

The 34-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of California, was originally selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round (85th pick overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft.

He played in all 16 games during his rookie season, totaling 29 tackles, two sacks and a couple of fumble recoveries. The following season, he once again appeared in all 16 contests and registered 39 tackles, 5.5 sacks and a pair of forced fumbles.

Mebane went on to play the first nine years of his career with the Seahawks and was a steady contributor along their defensive line. He was a member of the Seattle defense that went to back-to-back Super Bowls during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 campaigns, winning it all in the former season.

After his tenure with the Seahawks, Mebane landed with the Chargers in 2016, where he played in 10 games and recorded 21 tackles, a sack and an interception during his first season with the club.

Then, in 2017, the Los Angeles native started all 16 games and posted 30 tackles.

The Bolts won 12 games this past season and captured a Wild Card berth in the AFC.

They then went on to defeat the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs before falling to the eventual Super Bowl-champion New England Patriots in the Divisional Round a week later.
