On Wednesday, Los Angeles Chargers general manager Tom Telesco told the media that veteran Russell Okung was dealing with a series health issue that was discovered in June but didn't offer many details about what exactly he was dealing with. Okung was placed on the non-football injury list, and that is about all the details he would offer.

It raised a lot of eyebrows with what exactly Okung was dealing with, and there was a lot of concern from fans of the Chargers. On Thursday, Okung posted on his personal Twitter account that he had suffered Pulmonary Embolism, which was caused by blood clots.

Okung is currently at Chargers training camp with the rest of the teammates, but it's unclear exactly how long he will have to sit out or if he will miss any regular-season games.

If Okung were to miss any of the teams' regular-season games it would be a big hit to the Chargers offense, but Okung's health is most important, so hopefully, he can get healthy soon and return to the field when he is ready. His status could be crucial to Philip Rivers' success during the 2019 NFL season as Los Angeles tries to compete as a legitimate Super Bowl title contender once again.
