The start of the 2017 NFL season is less than 24 hours away and respect for opponents is starting to circulate. Von Miller, arguably one of the best players in the league at his position, recently had high praise for a divisional opponent in Los Angeles Chargers quarterback, Philip Rivers.

Apparently, Miller, who sees Rivers at least twice a season, thinks highly of the veteran gunslinger who is starting out fresh in Los Angeles, via Jack Wang of the L.A. Daily News.

Miller considering Rivers as a top-three quarterback is a flattering statement considering the talent at the position in the NFL. The perennial Pro Bowler's comments put Rivers in the same category as Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, and potentially even Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

These two AFC West rivals will square off on Monday Night Football as the last game of Week 1. Miller's Broncos will host Rivers and company at Sports Authority Field at Mile High with both teams looking to get off to a fast start to the 2017 campaign.

The Chargers will be ushering in a new era in Los Angeles with Rivers leading the way under center. The veteran quarterback is the star attraction for the struggling franchise as they try to bounce back from a disappointing last season in San Diego in which the team went 5-11.

Denver, however, will also be looking to get back on track after missing the playoffs in their title defense. Trevor Siemian will attempt to go blow for blow with Rivers on Monday night after being named the starting quarterback for a second straight season in the post-Peyton Manning era.
