The Buffalo Bills made a slightly surprising when they cut running back LeSean McCoy on Saturday. Unsurprisingly, the veteran looks like he'll have a few suitors.

Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach hinted that his team could be among the interested.

“We play a lot of common opponents and got to see him on tape and he’s still a talented player and does a lot of great things in the pass game,’’ he said of McCoy, per ESPN's Adam Teicher. “I’m sure he’s a guy we’ll take a peek at and we kind of have a rapport with.’’

This news isn't surprising at all for two reasons. First off, Andy Reid is the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. He has a history with LeSean McCoy.

Second, and more importantly, the Chiefs need a running back. They traded Carlos Hyde to the Houston Texans earlier in the day, and now could use some help at the position.

Damien Williams is the starter, and big things are expected from him. However, he's a six-year running back with under 200 career carries. Talented, yes, but unproven.

After Williams, the team has Darrell Williams, Darwin Thompson and Tremon Smith. Williams ran the ball 13 times for 44 yards last year in his rookie campaign. Thompson is a rookie this year who's flashed in the preseason, and Smith, converted from cornerback in training camp, has more career tackles than rushing attempts.

You could see how adding a proven veteran talent could prove beneficial for the Chiefs. The problem could be that they won't be the only team hoping to gain his services. LeSean McCoy will likely garner interest from a pretty sizable number of teams.
