It was not long ago that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was getting ready to take that next step into the NFL from college. However, that has not stopped the comparisons from rolling in with the next batch of young gunslingers in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Wyoming's Josh Allen has received high praise for his uncanny arm strength. However, Mahomes is still confident he possesses the biggest cannon in the NFL, making this claim on the Stick to Football Podcast with Bleacher Report's Matt Miller and Connor Rodgers.

“I've seen these things with Josh but I'm going to have to say I believe I have the stronger arm,” Mahomes said. “I've never seen anyone throw harder than me with the football, so until I see it in person, I believe I have the stronger arm.”

Mahomes had been one of the most underrated prospects in last year's draft before being taken with the 10th overall pick. Despite the small sample size, his arm strength and dynamic skill set were enough to show the Chiefs they had their next franchise quarterback.

Kansas City made headlines with their blockbuster trade after dealing quarterback Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins. As a result, they have made it clear that quarterback Mahomes will be their man under center moving forward.

Meanwhile, Allen is projected to be one of the first quarterbacks taken off the board in the upcoming draft. Much like Mahomes, he possesses the prototypical size to go with his versatile skill set. Although arm strength may not be a question for these two young gunslingers, accuracy may want to be an area of focus for them early on.
