Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will reportedly push through with surgery to repair his turf toe after their Super Bowl LV tilt against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, via NFL‘s Ian Rapoport.

Mahomes was reportedly listed on the team's injury report this past week but has managed to fully participate in practices heading to the championship game on Sunday.

Patrick Mahomes initially sustained the toe injury in their AFC Divisional Round matchup against the Cleveland Browns. He headed to the blue tent in the first half of the game but eventually managed to return to the field.

However, his stint in the game still ended early after he absorbed a gruesome hit from Browns linebacker Mack Wilson which led him to undergo the concussion protocol.

Despite being banged up in the previous tilt, Mahomes still managed to play in the AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills. He shrugged off the pain and tallied 325 passing yards on 29-of-38 passing along with three touchdowns to lift his team to a 38-24 victory.

When asked regarding his condition leading up to Sunday's contest, Patrick Mahomes gave an indication that he will be ready to go against the Buccaneers.

“Having these two weeks to let it rest and heal up,” Mahomes said, “especially being almost three weeks, over three weeks away from the injury itself. If you look at those types of injuries, that kind of gives you the normal timeline. Definitely every single day that I get to rest it, makes it better.”

The Chiefs will aim for their second straight Super Bowl title as they tussle against the Buccaneers on Feb. 7. in Tampa Bay, Florida.
