The Kansas City Chiefs are hoping to repeat their success from 2018 in 2019. The offense was the biggest reason for the success, led by Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce.

Kelce has recently undergone ankle surgery, but is expected to be ready for the start of training camp. The procedure is apparently just a “cleanup” procedure.

Kelce was vital to the Chiefs offensive success, amassing 103 receptions, 1,336 yards, and 10 touchdowns. All of those were career-highs for the six-year veteran.

In the past few seasons, Kelce has solidified himself as one of the best tight ends in the NFL. In the past three years, Kelce has 271 receptions for 3,499 yards and 22 touchdowns.

With Rob Gronkowski on his last leg of his career, the tight end crown could be handed to Kelce very soon. The mismatches Kelce brings to the Chiefs allow them to keep defenses guessing at all times.

With his athleticism, Kelce can line up in the slot and outrun cornerbacks. Or he can just put his hand on the ground and catch a 50/50 ball over a safety.

The NFL is starting to turn towards an offense-oriented league, with the Chiefs being in a 54-51 game against the Los Angeles Rams in 2018.

Players like Kelce fit today's NFL perfectly where he is able to do multiple things at the tight end spot. Guys his size aren't supposed to be able to move as fluently as he does.

He does exactly what is asked of him in the offense and more. Let's hope this ankle surgery doesn't cause any issues down the road for the All-Pro tight end.
