Just a month ago, the Kansas City Chiefs were crowned Super Bowl Champions as they defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-20. Knowing that the Chiefs have a target on their back, Tyrann Mathieu is already prepared to try and repeat in the 2020 season.

“It was such a great feeling to accomplish certain goals you set out to accomplish,” Mathieu said, via ESPN.com. “My mindset is that it’s time to reset and try to do it again. I think we’ve got a really good team and a really good opportunity. Not every team has the opportunity we have. It’s important for us to kind of reset and just get back to work.”

Last offseason, Mathieu signed with the Chiefs in hopes it could give him an opportunity to hoist the Lombardi trophy. In his first season with the team, Mathieu was sensational as he recorded 75 tackles, 12 deflections, and four interceptions.

After a productive campaign, Mathieu helped put the icing on the cake by helping the Chiefs secure their first Super Bowl victory since 1969. As a matter of fact, Mathieu was voted by his teammates as the team's MVP in 2019.

Many players credited Mathieu's leadership as a reason for their success this season. On the other hand, Mathieu attributed his successful season to Andy Reid and the job he did as head coach.

Some players after winning the Super Bowl could become complacent, knowing they got a Super Bowl ring. Nevertheless, Mathieu isn't wasting any time trying to get the Chiefs back into a position to defend their title. After all, as long as Patrick Mahomes is under center, Mathieu should be confident in Kansas City being a contender.
