The Kansas City Chiefs were able to sign Tyrann Mathieu in free agency last year and the move paid dividends for their defense. Now, just a year later, Mathieu is lobbying for the Chiefs to sign Chris Harris Jr. in free agency.

“[He says] just come up there [to Kansas City], man,” Harris Jr. recently told TMZ. “Play with him, be able to do what I’ve done in the past — play everywhere on the field, and also play with a great quarterback.”

After signing Mathieu last offseason, the Chiefs were able to secure their first Super Bowl in 50 years. While Mathieu was busy contributing to Kansas City's Super Bowl title, Harris was stuck with the Denver Broncos, missing the playoffs altogether.

When the new league year begins, the Broncos will acquire A.J. Bouye in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Also, Denver has been rumored as a team that could target one of the marquee cornerbacks in free agency.

Given that, the Broncos seem content with Harris leaving for another team next season. However, they would likely be less inclined to let him walk if he chooses to stay within the division.

Despite Mathieu's desire to have Harris join him in Kansas City, the Chiefs aren't going to have much cap space this offseason. Considering that Harris is going to command a decent price tag, Mathieu's wish of Harris joining him is likely going to remain as a hypothetical situation. At the same time, with a need at cornerback, the Chiefs could make the necessary roster moves to make an unforeseen run at Harris.
