The Kansas City Chiefs may soon have two guys in their secondary who played together with the Arizona Cardinals. That is if they do in fact trade for Patrick Peterson at some point.

According to Nate Taylor of The Athletic, the Chiefs could approach the Cardinals about a Peterson trade in August. Apparently, the Chiefs have been trying to acquire the All-Pro cornerback since last season.

“Since last season, the Chiefs have been interested in acquiring Peterson via a trade with the Cardinals, who were asking for plenty back in compensation before the league’s Oct. 30 deadline,” Taylor said. “The Cardinals, however, according to multiple league sources, didn’t want to discuss a possible trade with the Chiefs before the NFL Draft last month. With Peterson’s suspension, it’s possible that the Chiefs could approach the Cardinals again, this time during training camp in August.”

The Chiefs saw Arizona's asking price as too much for the cornerback and stopped the talks. Although, talks resumed before this year's draft but neither side could agree on anything.

Recently, Peterson has been suspended the first six games of the 2019 season for testing positive for PEDs. Could that lower the price for the talented cornerback? It possibly could, which could mean that Kansas City gives Steve Keim and the Cardinals another call.

The Chiefs would likely want a deal to be made during training camp so they could get Peterson in their building before the season begins. Again, Peterson is suspended so either way, he is going to be sitting out six games.

The Chiefs need help in their secondary after being ranked 31st against the pass in 2018. They've added Tyrann Mathieu and others to hopefully improve their secondary.

Of course, Mathieu and Peterson played together with the Cardinals from 2013 to 2017. The Cardinals had one of the best secondaries in the NFL with those two leading the way together.

At some point during 2019, we could see the two play together once again but this time in Kansas City.
