Patrick Mahomes will soon be the highest-paid player in NFL history. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is eligible for a contract extension after this season, and aecent indications point to a coming annual payday around $40 million. For now, though, Mahomes is the biggest bargain in football, and it's not particularly close. Coming off a historic MVP season in his first as a starter, he'll make a relatively paltry $4.5 million in 2019.

But just because Mahomes has yet to become football's highest earner hardly means he isn't already comporting himself as such. He and his longtime girlfriend, Brittany Matthews, recently invited Bleacher Report into their new home, where Mahomes showed off a walk-in closet that contains 180 pairs of his favorite sneakers. The 23-year-old has so many sneakers, in fact, he hadn't even seen one of the pairs that was sitting on a shelf in his closet.

“When you don't have enough room, I feel like you lose the value of some of your shoes. Some of the shoes you've worn once you forget about 'cause you don't see 'em, so I wanted that shoe room to highlight that,” he said.

Mahomes certainly won't have that problem anymore.

The third-year signal-caller put together one of the most dominant passing seasons of all time in 2018. He threw for 5,097 yards, 50 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while competing 66 percent of his passes, ridiculous numbers only previously reached by Peyton Manning in his historic 2013 campaign. The scariest part, at least for opposing teams? All chatter from Chiefs training camp suggests that Mahomes looks even better heading into 2019.
