Danilo Gallinari's acquisition was a key one for the L.A. Clippers after signing Blake Griffin to a five-year, $173 million deal after the Chris Paul trade. The team was hopeful to give Griffin a partner to generate a one-two scoring punch that can keep the Clippers' hopes alive after losing a perennial All-Star that kept the team in the playoffs during the last six seasons.

Gallinari suffered a fractured thumb after punching an opponent during a EuroBasket game, keeping him out for the rest of competition. The lanky forward was expected to be ready for training camp, but he's already made enough progress to get the warmup process started.

TMZ Sports caught up with the 28-year-old on Wednesday night, asking him about the health of his fractured thumb.

“(It's going) very good,” said Gallinari. “I'm almost ready to play.”

Asked about the Kyrie Irving-Isaiah Thomas trade that went down on Tuesday, the lanky sharpshooter didn't have much to chime on, instead giving his team a nice nod of confidence.

“I don't know, I only think about the Clippers,” the Italian marksman said as he got into his car. “They're about to win a championship.”

The Clippers might have a longer process with so many new faces to adhere to their equation, but if they can get the talents of Griffin and Gallinari together in a nightly basis, they can have a puncher's chance to make the Western Conference playoffs.
