DeAndre Jordan may be part of a lot of headlines now for being included in trade rumors, but nothing has materialized yet, and he is still a member of the L.A. Clippers. That said, he is currently closing in on a franchise record that could make Jordan their all-time leader in games played.

Jordan is recovering from an ankle injury, but his next game for the Clippers will already tie him for the franchise record, along with Randy Smith. It will be the 715th time he’ll suit up for the team and he could be the new franchise leader as early as his second game back, according to Jeff Miller of The Orange County Register.

“The next game Jordan plays – he missed his fourth straight Saturday in Utah because of an ankle injury – will be his 715th, tying him with former Buffalo Brave and San Diego Clipper Randy Smith for the franchise lead.”

“Then, when Jordan plays again, he officially will be more Clipper than anyone who has come before him, the team’s most permanent claim to history yet, Jordan gaining a distinction that, for decades, no one wanted: A part of Clippers lore.”

When asked what it will mean for him if he breaks the franchise record, Jordan shared that he will be very proud of it, especially being part of the team when they were not making the playoffs until now that they are already doing so consistently.

“It’s something I take pride in,” Jordan said, pride also a quality relatively new to the franchise. “I was here when it was horrible times. I’ve been here for good times, great times. I’m honored to be here now.”

Jordan has been a Clipper his entire professional career after they selected him 35th overall back in 2008. He has emerged as one of the best centers in the league today, especially when crashing the boards and being an elite rim protector. His future with the team is still up in the air, but if he won’t be dealt by the trade deadline, there will be no doubt that he can re-write the franchise’s history books and be the player who has represented them in the most number of games.
