The Los Angeles Clippers fell just short of securing a playoff spot despite numerous injuries throughout the season to key players on the roster. With the offseason next on the docket, it has pushed former All-Star center DeAndre Jordan's future with the team to the front.

The team has remained firm in their desire to keep Jordan in the mix for the long haul by even adding that they had previously pushed for a contract extension. According to Brad Turner of The LA Times, the 29-year-old voiced once again that he has yet to have any discussions with the organization about working out a long-term deal at any point.

Jordan is not in a rush to make a decision.

“I think I'm just going to hang out this summer and wait it out. I mean, it'll be a tough decision,” Jordan said. “I want to think about all my options and do what's best for me and my career and my family. But most important, like I always say, I want to be where I'm wanted. And wherever that is, that's hopefully where I'm going to be.”

There has been plenty of conjecture about whether Jordan has discussed a contract extension with the club. He was succinct when asked about a deal.

“None,” Jordan said. “Zero. Zero discussions.”

Jordan has a major decision ahead of him this upcoming offseason with a player option worth $24.1 million for the final year of his four-year, $87.6 million deal. He has until June 29 to make a decision of whether he wants to pick up that option or hit the open market.

It is a critical decision as there is no certainty that he will receive a deal that will pay him anywhere near that salary on the open market. He has proven to be one of the top centers in the league as a premier rim protector and rebounder despite his limited ability offensively.

Much could change in the coming months between both sides moving toward a new deal. For the time being, there is no clarity as to what lies ahead for Jordan over the summer.
