The L.A. Clippers have officially agreed to a contract extension with their head coach Doc RiversLA Clippers announced on Wednesday.

The terms to this extension were not disclosed due to the team's policy.

Rivers was previously rumored to potentially parting ways with the organization, but those were quickly diffused a few weeks ago when owner Steve Ballmer and coach Rivers reportedly agreed, in principle, to a long-term contract extension.

The long-tenured coach took over the helm after a nine-year stint with the Boston Celtics, replacing Vinny Del Negro and taking over the dynamic tandem of Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, two All-Star players that are no longer with the organization.

The Clippers were absolutely hammered with injuries last season, which coincided with them falling short of the postseason. This time around, L.A. will be able to reload with two consecutive picks in the NBA Draft in No. 12 and No. 13 — the first acquired through the Griffin trade in late January.

Rivers will be now tasked with retooling this team with winning pieces after yielding several assets through the trades of Paul and Griffin. This upcoming 2018-19 season will be his sixth at the helm, moving his legacy past the five years he spent with the Orlando Magic and closer to the staple he became in Boston.

The longtime coach has finished with a record above the .500 mark in every season, posting a 259-151 record in five seasons with the team along with an 18-22 record in the postseason.
