Chicago led by six points at the half. However, the Clippers made their adjustments at half time and regained control early, going on a 19-4 run to start the half. They outscored the Bulls 45-21 in the third quarter, which was a refreshing sight to see for Doc Rivers.
According to ESPN, Los Angeles has not been a good third quarter team following the All-Star break. Opposing squads have outscored them in that quarter in seven of the 11 games after the break. They entered the contest averaging 26.9 points in the third compared to the 31.6 points they allow.
Nevertheless, the Clippers have still found a way to carve out the wins in that stretch. Following their home win over Chicago, they have now won eight of their last 11.
The Clippers have to be one of the best feel-good stories of the 2018-19 season. Despite being devoid of a legitimate superstar for the entire year, and even trading away their closest one to that in Tobias Harris at the trade deadline, they have continued to fight and claw their way into the playoff race.
They are firmly within the top eight in the West and are a good six games above the ninth place Sacramento Kings. With 12 games left in the schedule, it's almost inevitable that their Cinderella story will continue on in the post-season.
