It became known earlier that the Washington Wizards have temporarily taken away John Wall’s rights to dunk during practices. It’s not a grounding move, though, but a precautionary measure on the part of the Wizards to avoid any further risk of Wall re-injuring his knee. Wall recently missed nine games because of a knee injury and has been back in action for just two games.

Apparently, the “No-Dunking” rule was an idea of Wizards head coach Scott Brooks, who clearly does not want to see his star point guard get sidelined again. The Wizards entered Friday’s matchup with the L.A. Clippers losing two of their past three games and five of their last 10. Washington simply could not afford to lose Wall, especially now that the Eastern Conference has suddenly grown a lot more competitive than it was in previous seasons.

Clippers head coach Doc Rivers heard of the unique rule the Wizards are enforcing on Wall, and had a savage quip targeted at Brooks, per Tim Bontemps of The Washington Post.

So heartless. Why do you have to say that, Doc?

While he didn’t have the hops to sky for jams during his 10-year NBA career, Brooks was a decent backup guard that averaged 4.9 points and 2.4 assists per game.

Brooks also seemed to have a nice retort for Rivers in the form of a 100-91 Wizards win over the Clippers.
